7/11/10 - 25/09/13
On 25th September 2013 Loui Aspinall almost 3 years old drowned in a pool whilst on a family holiday with his mum, dad and sister.
Emma (Loui's mum) researched into water safety and found Pediaswim. This is a program that teaches children how to roll over onto their back to rest and breathe. Unlike regular swimming lessons, infant swim survival teaches safety first.
Unlike regular swimming lessons that are taught when children are much older, this is based on teaching survival skills from an early age, which also provides the foundation for swimming in preparation for the transition to learning swimming strokes. This skill is being taught in many countries but unfortunately not here in England until now.
Emma along with her family and friends raised the funds to enable Emma to undertake this specialist training in the US and then set up Infant Swim Survival here in the UK to give children the skills to help them if they got into difficulty.
Emma now teaches Infant Swim Survival here in the U.K (Hindley Green, Wigan).

Doit4Loui is the charity that works alongside Infant Swim Survival to raise awareness on child drowning prevention and raising funds to insure that survival skills are accessible to every child regardless of financial situations. Monies raised go towards things such as (but not limited to) sending instructors to the USA to teach survival skills here in the UK, providing CPR and First Aid training to parents and providing Infant Swim Survival scholarships for children.

Everyone at Doit4loui is working towards one goal, that not one more child will drown, drowning is PREVENTABLE.

A truly special little boy that is much loved and even more missed.
WHY THE DRAGONFLY?
The story below is the reason behind why we chose the dragonfly. We feel it's the perfect message to share with children to help them understand what happened and why Doit4Loui began.

The Dragonfly
Once, in a little pond, in the muddy water under the lily pads, there lived a little water beetle in a community of water beetles. They lived a simple and comfortable life in the pond with few disturbances and interruptions.

Once in a while, sadness would come to the community when one of their fellow beetles would climb the stem of the lily pad and would never be seen again. They knew when this happened; their friend had died, gone forever.

Then one day, one little water beetle felt an irresistible urgee to climb up that stem. However, he was determined that he would not leave forever. He would come back and tell his friends what he had found at the top.

When he reached the top and climbed out of the water onto the lily pad, he was so tired. The sun felt so warm that he decided he must take a nap. As he slept, his body changed and when he woke up, he had turned into a beautiful blue-tailed dragonfly with broad wings and a slender body designed for flying.

So, fly he did! And, as he soared he saw the beauty of the whole new world and a far superior way of life to what he had never known existed.

Then he remembered his beetle friends and how they was thinking by now he was dead. He wanted to go back to tell them, and explain to them that he was now more alive than he had ever been before. His life had been fulfilled rather than ended.

But, his new body would not go down into the water. He could not get back to tell his friends the good news. Then he understood that their time would come, when they, too, would know what he knew. So, he raised his wings and flew off into his joyous new life!
